Lionsgate will release Sir Richard Attenborough's "Chaplin (15th Anniversary Edition)" on DVD this October 14th. The film stars Robert Downey Jr. as Charlie Chaplin, Anthony Hopkins, Dan Aykroyd, Marisa Tomei, Kevin Kline, Penelope Ann Miller, and Geraldine Chaplin.

Extras will include: "Staring Into the Sunset - a new retrospective with cast and director Richard Attenborough," "Chaplin the Hero - new featurette on Charlie Chaplin's contributions to film," "The Most Famous Man in the World - new featurette on Chaplin's status as a pop culture icon," and a "Theatrical Trailer."

Synopsis:
Directed by Sir Richard Attenborough and starring Robert Downy, Jr. and an extraordinary cast, CHAPLIN is a loving, grand scale portrait of the Little Tramp's amazing life and times. His poverty-stricken childhood in England comes to life, along with his friendships with Mack Sennett (Dan Aykroyd) and Douglas Fairbanks (Kevin Kline), his many wives and scandalous affairs, and his relentless pursuit by J. Edgar Hoover. CHAPLIN is the larger-than life story of the actor behind the icon and a stunning depiction of a bygone era when Hollywood was at its most glamorous.

Robert Downey Jr was excellent in this movie. Feels like he's been around for much longer than he has.

I was soooo upset that Robert Downey Jr didn't get the Oscar for this movie!! Scent of a woman took the best actor award that year, and (even though I love Al Pacino), I was really thinking R. D. J. was robbed of a well deserved win.

Another sad note...anyone know why there is no blu-ray announcement???

Yes, this is a very good movie and Robert does an amazing job. Deserved a HD version if you ask me

And yet, studios keep releasing films like Land of the Dead, The Thing, Every Which Way But Loose, The Doors, The Gauntlet, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Eraser, Under Siege 2: Dark Territory with Steven Seagal, and Blow, just to name a few...
